In Residency Dog Training: On Leash

In order for our training programs to successful, it is imperative for owners to work at home to change patterns and behaviors as instructed by our trainers. Your willingness to incorporate obedience commands into everyday life is crucial for success. With each program your dog will receive a bath at the completion of the residency stay. Baths include shampoo, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and brushing/combing. A properly sized training collar and a standard leather leash are also included. This program is designed to give you basic on leash control. During this program your dog will stay in residence at On Command for three full training days. Our staff of certified trainers will teach your dog the following on leash commands: HEEL with Automatic-SIT and SIT at your side. Upon completion of this program your dog will be able to walk on a leash without pulling and sit patiently. You will be given a thorough lesson on these commands on the day you pick-up your dog.

This on leash program is designed to establish dog/owner communication and give you on leash control. Upon completion of this program your dog will be able to walk on a leash, to sit, and lay down patiently at your left side. During this program your dog will stay in residence at On Command for five full training days. During this time our staff of certified trainers will teach your dog the following on leash commands: HEEL with Automatic-SIT, SIT at your side, DOWN at your side, and STAY.

This program includes two private follow-up lessons where you will be taught proper leash handling and given insight in particular behavior patterns and problems. Your first lesson will take place the day that you pick-up your dog. Your second follow-up lesson must be completed within 14 days after the final date of residency training.

This on leash program is designed to establish and enhance effective dog/owner communication. During this program your dog will stay in residence at On Command for ten full training days. During this time our certified trainers will teach your dog the following on leash commands: HEEL with Automatic-SIT, SIT and DOWN at you side, SIT and DOWN in motion, SIT and DOWN from the front, STAY, and COME. Your dog will be taught to respond to both verbal commands and hand signals.

During your four private follow-up lessons, you will be taught proper leash handling techniques and correct use of each command. Your follow-up lessons will include instruction at On Command’s indoor and enclosed outdoor training areas. During these lessons there will be an emphasis on diversifying your dog’s commands, working around distractions, and advice on handling unwanted behaviors. Your first lesson will take place the day that you pick-up your dog. The additional three private follow-up lessons must be completed within 30 days after the final days of residency training. Upon completion of your private follow-up lessons and with approval from hour trainer, you may be eligible to participate in our group lessons. In these group sessions you and your dog will participate in exercises that have a heavy emphasis on real world distractions and situations. This program provides the foundation to allow you and your dog to begin the transition to off-leash obedience.

Training Program Upgrades

Upon completion of a 3-1 Training Program or 5-2 Training Program, you and your dog may be eligible to upgrade to next level Training Program. When upgrading from one program to the next: your dog would stay the difference in training days; be taught the additional commands; and you will receive the additional follow-up lessons.
